Flood Aid, a concert to raise cash to help the victims of the December 5 tidal surge in Boston, Lincolnshire, has been planned for later this month and Nick has volunteered to provide his photographic services free of charge.
The Flood Aid team has worked closely with the local council since January to organise the event and will showcase a number of local bands who will get the opportunity to perform on an ex-Radio One stage.
Nick explained why he wanted to be involved:
“I was, initially, told about the event when working in Boston earlier in the year and have seen the devastation the tidal surge has done to the city and the East Coast first hand.
So, when I was asked if I would produce a photographic record of the event for poster and prints to raise money for the victims, I was more than happy to get involved and waive my fee for such a good cause.
With the line-up being local, unsigned, bands and artists, I also wanted to give them something that they could remember the day by and like to support young people starting out in the music business wherever I can.
It’s going to be a great weekend event and the Flood Aid team should be commended for making it happen.”
Dylan Taylor, one of the team behind Flood Aid and Station Manager of Boston’s community radio station Endeavour Radio, said:
“This event couldn’t come at a better time really, as some residents have only just started the process of moving back into their homes.
“We are over the moon that Nick Elliott will be working with us on what promises to be a very exciting weekend in Boston’s musical calendar.
“I’m a great admirer of Nick’s work and the bands are incredibly blessed to be able to go through this experience with him.
“Our relationship with Nick grows from strength to strength and we can’t wait to see where we go next.
“A weekend fundraiser for last year’s flood victims, the best local music in an amazing Saturday schedule and one of the BEST rock photographers in the world to capture every awesome musical moment – what could be better?”
