Sometimes Nick hears a story that is so moving that he just can’t help but get involved.
Eight year old Rico Dunworth, from near Nick’s home town of Peterborough, was rushed to hospital in March with severe meningitis. Given only a 50% chance of survival, he was put into a medically induced coma and, thankfully, after five days in intensive care started to come through the disease.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of Rico’s trouble. He was diagnosed with Meningococcal Septicaemia meaning that the disease had severely poisoned his blood resulting in the amputation of Rico’s right foot and a number of toes from his left.
Rico is unlikely to be able to walk again for at least 2 years and his family are now raising money towards further treatments and equipment that he will need for the future to give him the best possible life.
Moved by the story, Nick donated a framed limited edition fine art print of Roger Daltrey to the cause. Retailing at over £600, Nick is hoping that it will raise as much money as possible for the fund and anyone generous enough to consider donating can do so on Rico’s Crowdfunding page.
