Is it a photograph? No it’s a painting

Zinsky

Yesterday we had an intriguing meeting with the reclusive, sensational, artist Zinsky and his management. Remarkable artist Zinsky has been so inspired by Nick’s images that discussions are underway about a licence to permit him to produce a collection of oil paintings of Nick’s work in his own contemporary style.

Exciting stuff, so what this space as things develop!

Off The Record with Paul Rodgers

Paul Rodgers

Nick was invited to shoot a VIP gig today when the legendary Paul Rodgers took part in the second Yamaha and Planet Rock Off The Record event.

Taking place at the beautiful Under The Bridge club in Chelsea, Paul played a four song acoustic set, showcasing songs from his time with Free, Bad Company and Queen in a stripped down acoustic format.

He also fielded questions from Planet Rok’s Nicky Horne and a select group of listeners who had been specially invited based on the strength of their questions.

Take a look at Nick’s images of this special event.

Many Pictures in Nottingham

Nick & George Thornton

The studio is excited about showing Nick’s work in a new gallery in Hockley, Nottingham. Muchos Cuadros – or ‘many pictures’ to you and me – has taken possession of a range of collections to show in their wonderful contemporary space.  George Thornton, Director at Muchos Cuadros Art Gallery, commented:

“In a world where everyone is a photographer it’s an absolute delight to deal with an artisan such as Nick Elliott. A master with the camera! Each photo carefully shot to allow the customer the unique opportunity to immerse themselves within the power of the music!”

So pop along when you can!

All change!

Beverley Knight

It’s that time of year again when everything changes as we get ready for spring. Brand new images have all been framed and distributed to galleries showing Nick’s work. With the weather promising better times ahead isn’t it time you took a visit to one of the galleries near you?

We’ll put you out of your misery soon…

This may be the first blog of the year but we’ve been busy at the studio since the clock struck midnight and 2011 was welcomed in. We’re hopeful that we’ll shortly be able to bring you news about the long awaited (and so far delayed) book. A pre-sale date of March has been set, so not long now before we can announce detils of exactly what it’s all about. Oeeerr…..

Just This Side of Sane – You Should Have Been There!

Nick taking a rest after the party's over

The opening night of the Just This Side of Sane exhibition last night was an absolute blast with the guest list reading like a Who’s Who of the music art industry. It’s running up until 19th December so there’s plenty of time to get yourself to jgallery in Northampton for some Christmas shopping!

Here’s what Sue Brooks, curator of jgallery, said about it all:

“Nick is an extraordinary photographer with a wicked sense of humour and he has an eye for capturing the unexpected whilst retaining the theme of an image in his very own, sublime style.

“His light-filled photographs reveal the heart and soul of his subjects. As a curator of exhibitions over several years I have seen many photographs and I would categorize Nick among those rare artists who have a genuine gift for ‘seizing the moment’. His portfolio consists of exciting original and beautifully presented images and I would be proud to recommend him in any capacity of his choice”

No Sleep Since Nashville

Nashville

Nashville is a long, long way away, as Nick has just found out! Straight from shooting for a week in Music City, attending show-biz parties and working on the CMA awards, he’s now back in the UK with a heap of post production and a book full of orders.

No sleep yet, though, as there is the opening of his exhibition Just This Side of Sane on Friday, so more Champaign and nibbles. Can you have too much of the good life we ask ourselves?
