Yeah! That’s right. It’s out!!

It’s been a long time in the planning, a lot of meetings, a lot of conversations and an awful lot of upset to produce this body of work. But this a fine art coffee table book, ‘DARK SIDE Of MY MIND’ published by elliottstudios publishing, and is the first of a series of five books due to be released in the next 12 months.
It’s a body of work that I am so pleased and proud of that I found the need to make it’s destination printed media. It’s part of a very big project titled ‘Loss’ that documents in images a lifetime of mental anguish and emotional torture.
The series will continue and the project will continue as I am already starting work on a brand-new collection. It’s pretty much an ongoing thing.
Destination nowhere…

Well we hadn’t seen each other for nearly 4 years. The last time was just before the Covid situation kicked off big time and the lockdown happened.
But only for a short time, he was back in the UK for the launch of his biography “Guitar Earl Slick ” we managed to spend some time together before and after the show.
Obviously we’ve kept in touch in that period through emails and messaging but there’s nothing like seeing somebody face-to-face. We chatted about the book, and shot a little footage for the VT for a short that we’re going to be doing soon. And the project that we’ve been working on for nearly 6 years.
Coffee table book, a Rockumentary “When Nick Met Slick” a collection of unseen fly in the wall images that Nick and Earl have been working on jointly leading up to the pandemic.
To be released later this year 2024

It was lovely to see my dear friend again. It’s been way too long.

I signed the contract this week!
To make it official, we will be taking a brand new collection of 25 images to show in one of the major galleries in the centre of Rome in the Spring of 2025. It’s a project that my Italian office has been working on for the past 12 months. We now have a final go-ahead. The project will be a collaboration with the lovely team at The Medina Arte Design Gallery in central Rome right next door to the Colosseum.

The show will run for seven days from March 28th to April 3th 2025.
Nick will be there for the private viewing evening and for two or three days in the week of the show. Nick would like to say a massive big thank you and congratulations to his Italian team and especially his Italian PA Raffaella Clementi who has brought this whole project to fruition.
I really don’t know what to say about this! No words can tell you how happy and excited I am about taking a new collection of my work to the art centre of the world. Italy!!
It really is a lifelong dream.

“Being invited along to ‘Nick Elliott – The Story So Far’ that hot evening last May was without doubt one of the best nights out we had all year.
The Forum in Norwich proved to be the perfect setting for Nick to tell his fascinating life story being an intimate theatre venue where the invited audience of friends, family and some of the many people who have played a part in Nick’s story so far enjoyed the premiere of Nick’s open, honest and at times very poignant, raw and moving first person documentary film.
Footage and photos accompanied memories and people, places and times gone by in the 90 minute documentary which drew on the audience’s emotions from laughter at the many memories and anecdotes to complete silence during revelations of the darker episodes of Nick’s more recent past.
This extraordinary film was followed by an informal and insightful Q and A session where Nick pulled no punches at answering audience questions in his own unique style which rounded off a fabulous evening in the company of one of the rock world’s most talented and respected rock art photographers; the inimitable Nick Elliott.
The only unanswered questions I had following the night are ‘When’s the next one?’ ‘And can we come along again please?’

……..The Story So Far
A completely spellbinding evening unravelling Nick’s life story. I felt enormously privileged to be there and see it unravel. Nick’s talents are second to none, and seeing his life laid bare, ( especially the Dark Side ) left me feeling enormously emotional.
Nick’s Artwork will be renowned forever.. as the man himself will be!
Lots of laughter and a few tears… I wait in anticipation for Part Two… I know there’s lots more to come!

Wonderful news!
The project 50 years on the job a fine art coffee table book by Nick Elliott Rock Art Photographer has been picked up by one of the Nationals. http://www.holdthefrontpage.co.uk took the story up late last week, and here it is!
by David Sharman Published 13 Sep 2023
A photographer has postponed his planned retirement after celebrating half a century working for a regional newspaper.
David Lowndes has stated his intention to “stay on” at the Peterborough Telegraph, where he began his career as a photographic assistant and trainee photographer in September 1973.
David, pictured, revealed last year that he originally planned to retire in September 2023.
He has served as the paper’s sole photographer, on a freelance basis, since 2014.

Speaking to HTFP, he said: “I am staying on at the newspaper, maybe – if they will have me – for a couple of more years while I am fit enough.
“I started at the Peterborough Evening Telegraph in September 1973 as a photographic assistant/trainee photographer. There were seven photogs using medium format cameras and hand-processed black and white negs and prints.
“We obviously served through the best time in the industry – the seventies and eighties before new technology and mobile phones with cameras appeared.
“Years later the newspaper went ‘morning edition’ and then weekly and by 2014 the photographic department was disbanded, leaving me as the sole photographer for the paper.
“It has been a privilege to document half a century of history in Peterborough, I have enjoyed it immensely and met many people – which is why it is so difficult to hang up my camera.
“A project coming up, with the help of Rock Art photographer Nick Elliott, is to produce a pictorial book to celebrate my 50 years.
“It should be completed by the end of the year which will be followed by several exhibitions, talks and book signings to highlight Nick’s images of me and my work.”
More to come.

The Summer of 23!
Weather wise it’s not been the best in the UK recently, but for me it’s been extremely productive. I’ve spent most of the summer in between working on other projects and commissions, producing a collection of fine art images that I hope to be touring next year in 2024.
This is a collection that’s been hanging around in my consciousness and imagination for sometime.I’ve never actually started to make a reality..

The series of Gallery and touring events planned for a six month period next year will feature totally new work and another side to my creativity.
A visual trip into the real side of Nick Elliott.

Let’s melt some faces!!

Who would’ve thought it!
A conversation that took place a few months ago over our regular meet up for an Indian meal in Peterborough now turned out to be a massive 12 month long project. The project will celebrate the 50th year of my dear friend, David Lowndes’ service as press photographer for the Peterborough Telegraph…
The project came about when Dave let me know that September this year he would be celebrating his 50th year working for the paper as a press photographer.
Dave and my friendship goes back that far. We work together on the Peterborough Evening Telegraph when it was the evening paper way back in the 70s, and Dave actually replaced me when I left in 1976 to pursue my present career.
I really didn’t have to give it much thought on what I’d like to do as a personal gift to Dave for his time, our friendship and his service to the world of newspapers.
We spoke briefly and decided that we would produce a fine art coffee table book documenting his 50th year on the paper and also to take the lid off the man’s personal life what a lot of people actually don’t know about

Since then the project has got a massive response we now have an agreement from Waterstones bookshop that will be carrying the book for sale this Christmas, along with a Tour Exhibition that will be visiting four venues throughout the next 12 months starting on March the 29th at the Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery, who will be hosting a Q&A along with book signing, meet and greet, plus exhibition show casing 22 images from the final publication.

We are so pleased to also welcome an exclusive sponsorship deal that will be involved in the whole project over the full 12 months.
They’ll be lots more news on the actual plans for the project as we move nearer to Christmas 2023.

I am so so excited about this project we are still in the process of shooting the images for the book but that’s expected to be done by around about late October.
It’s been totally wonderful to spend some quality time with a very dear friend and a respected colleague and we’ve had a lot of laughs on the way.
Good times indeed!!!

Sebastian Alderete, director of The Music Photo Gallery, has invited Nick to supply some of his unseen, vintage rock images for sale within his gallery.

Nick is in the process of selecting some of his iconic vintage fine art rock images from his archives. Selected images include Motörhead, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, The Who, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Bill Wyman, Robert Plant and Earl Slick.
After the selection process is completed and submitted, The Music Photo Gallery will also undertake the promotion of Nick’s fine art mages to their market in the USA, Latin America, the Caribbean and Mexico. Nick will be in good company, as Mick Rock, Bob Gruen, and Chris Stein are just a few of the iconic music photographers who already supply to TMPG.

The Music Photo Gallery (TMPG) continues to validate music photography as Fine Art Photography. Representing the most important photographers of music history worldwide, whose work has captured the popular idols. Based in New York City and co- working from Buenos Aires, TMPG creates, produces and develops original cultural content in innovative formats partnering with artists, photographers, filmmakers, curators, producers, and professionals from all related areas, in order to cement the music photography genre as an accepted fine art expression. TMPG is the only music gallery to specialise in vintage, rare, and never seen images, working with curators, museums and international fine art institutions.
“This is such a great opportunity to get some of my unseen images into a gallery with such a remarkable reputation. I’m really looking forward to working with Sebastian and The Music Photo Gallery.” Nick Elliott.

Nick has been developing a virtual online gallery where a selection of his fine art images can be displayed in the most initiative way and reflect the quality of his creations.

Nick has chosen seventeen previously unseen images of guitar legend Earl Slick, from his Rockumentary project that lasted several years. Nick had been documenting Slick for a new publication, crammed full of professional, onstage and candid shots of Slick. Over the duration of the project the pair have cemented their friendship and endeavour to meet up every time Slick comes to the U.K.
The virtual gallery displays a small proportion of those images of Slick in a unique 3D virtual style. Nick plans to change the images every three months to keep his visitors captivated by displaying his fine art rock images and some of his new conceptual pieces.

“I think this is a great way to display and promote my fine art. I’ve been looking to do this project for a long time and have found the perfect suitable platform, that does justice for my work.” Nick Elliott.
