Q & A. PART 12…

Q1. What is the one thing that you know now that you wished you knew when you were 20 years old? (Jason D. Essex UK)

A1. It’s not wrong to be different and be your true self. (Nick Elliott)

Q2. How do you improve your photography over the years? (B Angus Lincoln UK)

A2. My photography has improved because I no longer care, because caring means conforming and I have never conformed creativity to anything in my life. (Nick Elliott)

Q3. What does producing your images mean to you? Great fan of your work. I’m looking forward to seeing your Dark Art. (D Ellis London UK)

A3. The importance of my work to me, is immeasurable really. Each image is an expression of emotions, feelings, attitudes and moods. It’s an addiction rather than a want, to produce art, and when I can’t it makes me restless. ( Nick Elliott)

Q4. What type of cameras and lenses do you use? (JD Barker Norfolk.UK.)

A4. I’ve always used a combination of Canon, Roliflex and Mamyia cameras. My lenses are Canon EF. (Nick Elliott)

Q5. Can you tell me what tools you use to post produce and edit your images? What makes you realise you have a great image? (H Graeme. Hindleveston. UK)

A5. I edit through Photoshop. I always do 2 edits, first one to chop out the shit and the second to narrow it down tighter to see if the image will work as I initially saw it. When I see the shot I normally see it in black-and-white, not all images work in colour and vice versa. The image is about a statement and style and that interpretation can get lost if not post produced correctly. It’s about a deeper understanding of shadows, light, subjects, angles and individual style.

“Although Photoshop is the tool I use to edit and post produce my images, my eyes and sense of connection with my art and surroundings, delivers the message I want to convey”. (Nick Elliott)

UN TRATTAMENTO ITALIANO

(AN ITALIAN TREAT)

Nick‘s growing Italian fan base are in for a treat next year.

Raffy Clementi heads the Nick Elliott Italian page, she helps organise opportunities within the European fine art market, liaises with Italian businesses for sponsorships and negotiates TV and radio interviews, for Nick and elliottstudios. Raffy continues to make the Italian page a resounding success with an ever increasing Nick Elliott fan base and recognition from main stream musicians and rock bands.

Raffy has organised European sales of Nick’s fine art images, interpreting negotiations between Italian clients and elliottstudios.

After discussions at elliottstudios it has been decided that ‘The Story So Far’, Nick’s documentary charting his career and life should be released in Italy, fully translated with Italian subtitles.

This allows ‘The Story So Far’ documentary, produced by award-winning director Andy Blithe of Aturn Films to reach a wider audience across Europe.

“I’m so pleased about the growth of my Italian following and the interest in my art. Italy has always been a country that appreciates art, fashion and style”. (Nick elliott)

NATTERING AND CHATTERING…

Nick has had several interview invites recently, for dissemination in various local magazines and online news publications.

The Norfolk Broads was the most delightful of locations for an interview with John Kerrison, during a warm sunny day at the waters edge. Nick discussed in great depth his latest projects and recent negotiations for his continued workload at elliottstudios. Nick revealed his future plans for the rebranding of elliottstudios, and the complex process of producing and printing his three new publications containing archived unseen images, one of the publications will accompany his USA and UK tours.

Nick also talked about his exciting new experiences of organising his UK and USA tours, the venues that have been sourced and that have accepted his show, the tours content that sees Nick appearing before an audience to discuss his unique life within the rock industry, his personal life, his childhood, his iconic rock images and his reasoning behind his photographic diversity towards his recent dark art images.

Nick also described his experience of lockdown and how his personal revaluation kept elliottstudios financially viable during one of the most difficult times for self-employed creatives.

Additional interviews between Nick, and Lynn News freelance journalist and photographer Jon Seymour have also been completed. All interviews will be published in Norfolk and Suffolk Magazine, Suffolk Magazine, Lynn News, and King’s Lynn Online during December. Look out for these exclusive interviews to gain a comprehensive insight to Nick Elliott

U.K. TO USA AND BACK AGAIN…

Nick has been busy filming several show reels to accompany his USA and UK tours as promotional material. The reels will be distributed to potential booking agents and additional dates added to the current USA and UK tour dates.

Due to the current pandemic issues, Nick’s tours have been temporarily rescheduled for 2022, however these restrictions have been advantageous to add additional tour dates and venues.

Nick‘s tour managers, Brenda Cline (USA) and Lee Williams (UK) continue to work closely with Nick in preparation for next year. The shows content will include an audience with Nick Elliott, where Nick recounts his life and career as a rock art photographer, anecdotes, personal stories, and backstage secrets, followed by an opportunity to ask questions, a meet and greet, and special appearances.

The Tours will also include an exhibition of specifically selected unseen rock art images and copies of Nick’s new rock art book, personally signed by the man himself.

“I’m looking forward to getting the tours off the ground We have restructured the shows and added material to make it a totally exceptional and personal experience for the audience.” (Nick Elliott)

Q5. What’s the strangest thing about you and how do you hide it, if you do? (B. Gutierrez. Italy)

THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN…

Earl Slick is back in the UK for his current tour and he is meeting up with Nick for a much-needed catch up in Norwich and London during his new album signing.

Nick has been missing his good friend Earl who returned to the USA between UK Covid lockdowns during 2020, after a brief spell of teaming up with Glenn Matlock to produce several musical lockdown videos together.

Nick is looking forward to spending some quality time with Earl. The pair have known each other for six years and have completed several projects together during that time. Nick’s pictorial documentary of Slick’s career depicted in candid on stage and offstage images, took four years to complete and will soon be released in a fine art publication. Nick is now discussing further projects with Slick and how they can continue to work together.

“It’s been fantastic to work with Slick over the years. He is one of the most talented musicians I’ve ever met. It’s a great honour to experience his friendship.” (Nick Elliott)

Slick will also be featured in Nick’s feature film documentary of his life story ‘The Story So Far’ discussing their working and friendship exploits.

ALBUM LAUNCH WITH DEAD REYNOLDS…

Nick and members of the elliottstudios team attended the much anticipated Dead Reynolds album launch party, held in the Victorian Ballroom at The Dukes Head Hotel, Kings Lynn. Hosted by Special guest Alex Baker of Kerrang Radio, the launch was a total success. ‘Breathe With Strangers’, the latest offering from Dead Reynolds, is an utter masterpiece, musically interpreting the frustrations of a global pandemic and national lockdown.

The album continues to rack up thousands of hits on Spotify and iTunes. The Dead Reynolds rocked the packed venue with all the tracks from the new album. Nick and the team had a chance to catch up with the band after the set to discuss further projects and congratulate them on a fabulous new album. Nick accompanied the band back in July to the VW White Noise festival and the Pen festival, to continue their pictorial documentary series.

Nick has recently been reccing several places of interest to complete a commission project with the band. Shooting starts within the next few weeks and the finished images will be used for promotional material by the band.

“I was really pleased to be invited to the album launch, I was looking forward to hearing the content of the album and their performance of the whole album in its entirety. I know the guys have worked really hard on it.” (Nick Elliott)

Iron Maiden Feature Film…

Nick was delighted to be contacted by NBA film agency for a lead role starring in a feature film chronicling the life of heavyweight rock icon Bruce Dickinson, front man of Iron Maiden. Nick got tooled up in costume with a bass guitar to play Iron Maiden‘s bassist Steve Harris in this feature length film directed by Ian Dray.

Dray has previously directed several Harry Potter films and Captain Corellis mandolin starring Nicolas Cage.

Filming took place at RAF Coltishall, where several purpose-built film sets were erected.

The film is set for cinematic release later next year. Keep watching nickelliott.info for updates

“When I was Planet Rock‘s official photographer I worked with Iron Maiden so it was really special to be involved in this production about Bruce‘s life.” ( Nick Elliott)
