FROM PETERBOROUGH TO ‘THE ITALIAN JOB’

Story by The Peterborough Telegraph…. News you can trust since 1948.

Rock star photographer from Peterborough who has photographed Ozzy Osbourne, ZZ Top, Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Blondie to have new exhibition in Rome, yards from The Colosseum

Former Stanground Comp pupil Nick Elliott’s exhibition The Italian Job will go on display in March.

A world-renowned photographer from Peterborough who has captured some of the biggest names in rock music on film will have his latest exhibition in Rome – just a few yards from one of the most iconic ancient land marks on Earth.

Nick Elliott has come along way since his days at Stanground Comprehensive School – working with stars including Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica and Iron Maiden during his celebrated career.

Now he has announced his latest exhibition – titled ‘The Italian Job – which will run at the Medina Roma Gallery in Rome.

The event will showcase 25 original, previously unseen images, blending conceptual dark art and rock art photography. The collection explores human expression, inviting audiences to engage with the emotional landscapes depicted in his work.

Over the past seven years, Nick has curated an exclusive collection of conceptual dark art, exploring themes of isolation, identity, grief, loss, suicide and the darker facets of the human psyche. Through his lens, he invites viewers to confront these complex themes, sparking a dialogue about deeper emotional truths. His introspective approach sets him apart in an art world where few tackle such bold, provocative subject matter.

The Italian Job runs from March 28 to April 4th 2025.

Attention All Fans of Nick Elliott’s Work!

Nick has been gearing up for his upcoming exhibition, showcasing his latest work, “Dark Conceptual Art,” which invites viewers to consider deeper perspectives and emotions behind each photograph. This exploration of themes like identity, mortality, and the complexities of everyday life is an opportunity to engage with Nick’s artistry on a profound level.

For the past thirty years, Nick has collaborated closely with graphic designer Warren Langler Watts to create posters for all of Nick’s exhibitions, tours, talks, and documentaries. Their strong partnership has resulted in a remarkable creative exchange, leading to fantastic designs. The striking poster for “The Italian Job” stands out, reimagining the iconic vehicles from the classic 1969 film starring Michael Caine. In a clever twist, the classic cars are replaced with three cameras, symbolising Nick’s artistic tools, while Nick’s image takes the place of Caine, merging the worlds of cinema and photography in a playful homage.

This exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to experience Nick’s work up close. Don’t miss your chance to explore “Dark Conceptual Art” and celebrate the artistry that has captivated fans for over two decades.

Join us at the Medina Art Gallery in Rome from 28 March to 3 April 2025 for this memorable exhibition! Mark your calendars!

“It just had to be done, a combination of one of my very favourite films and my entry into the Italian art world.”

Celebrating the life of World Renowned Rock Art Photographer Nick Elliott.

I think it was one of the highlights of my entire life. It was such an honour to have a film produced that told a little bit more about the real me.

NICK LANDS LEADING ROLE IN FEATURE FILM.

Nick has been very excited about being approached by Producer and Director Kris Smith from the production company TV Bandits about his lead role in the brand new feature film Diamond Dogs.

The film which stars Nick as the character Paul Canterbury along side his co host of 2Go Mad in Norfolk Andy Blithe, playing the role of Rick Foster, the pair play two heavy duty villains getting together to commit the very last blag before they retire for good.

The film is in the true sense of the word a proper English comedy.

Last week saw the full crew shooting the first four scenes of the film in the picturesque setting of Paignton, and Brxham in Devon.

Pictured below:

“Nick is one of a kind, a unique actor, who has provided more than just his genuine charismatic performance on Diamond Dogs. He also collaborated on the script to bring out more comedic value on set. Something that is very rare these days.”

It’s a marvellous opportunity for me to be offered my first main acting role in any feature film, having been asked many times to do cameo parts before in various productions.

I’m totally fuckin MAD FOR IT!!

‘THE STORY SO FAR’ MAKES THE FINAL!

Well, we didn’t win, but we were in the top three.

A fantastic achievement having already won a first in the ‘Monthly Film Festival’ for Best Feature Documentary. But I’m not gonna complain .

Still wonderful to be recognised as one of the top documentaries.

WHEN NICK CAUGHT UP WITH SLICK..

Well we hadn’t seen each other for nearly 4 years. The last time was just before the Covid situation kicked off big time and the lockdown happened.

But only for a short time, he was back in the UK for the launch of his biography “Guitar Earl Slick ” we managed to spend some time together before and after the show.

Obviously we’ve kept in touch in that period through emails and messaging but there’s nothing like seeing somebody face-to-face. We chatted about the book, and shot a little footage for the VT for a short that we’re going to be doing soon. And the project that we’ve been working on for nearly 6 years.

Coffee table book, a Rockumentary “When Nick Met Slick” a collection of unseen fly in the wall images that Nick and Earl have been working on jointly leading up to the pandemic.

To be released later this year 2024

It was lovely to see my dear friend again. It’s been way too long.

IT’S OFFICIAL! A BRAND NEW COLLECTION TO SHOW IN ROME.

I signed the contract this week!

To make it official, we will be taking a brand new collection of 25 images to show in one of the major galleries in the centre of Rome in the Spring of 2025. It’s a project that my Italian office has been working on for the past 12 months. We now have a final go-ahead. The project will be a collaboration with the lovely team at The Medina Arte Design Gallery in central Rome right next door to the Colosseum.

The show will run for seven days from March 28th to April 3th 2025.

Nick will be there for the private viewing evening and for two or three days in the week of the show. Nick would like to say a massive big thank you and congratulations to his Italian team and especially his Italian PA Raffaella Clementi who has brought this whole project to fruition.

I really don’t know what to say about this! No words can tell you how happy and excited I am about taking a new collection of my work to the art centre of the world. Italy!!

It really is a lifelong dream.

WHAT THEY SAY FROM THE ONES THAT WERE THERE! “THE STORY SO FAR”

“Being invited along to ‘Nick Elliott – The Story So Far’ that hot evening last May was without doubt one of the best nights out we had all year.

The Forum in Norwich proved to be the perfect setting for Nick to tell his fascinating life story being an intimate theatre venue where the invited audience of friends, family and some of the many people who have played a part in Nick’s story so far enjoyed the premiere of Nick’s open, honest and at times very poignant, raw and moving first person documentary film.

Footage and photos accompanied memories and people, places and times gone by in the 90 minute documentary which drew on the audience’s emotions from laughter at the many memories and anecdotes to complete silence during revelations of the darker episodes of Nick’s more recent past.
This extraordinary film was followed by an informal and insightful Q and A session where Nick pulled no punches at answering audience questions in his own unique style which rounded off a fabulous evening in the company of one of the rock world’s most talented and respected rock art photographers; the inimitable Nick Elliott.

The only unanswered questions I had following the night are ‘When’s the next one?’ ‘And can we come along again please?’

WHAT THEY SAY FROM THE ONES THAT WERE THERE! “The Story So Far”

……..The Story So Far
A completely spellbinding evening unravelling Nick’s life story. I felt enormously privileged to be there and see it unravel. Nick’s talents are second to none, and seeing his life laid bare, ( especially the Dark Side ) left me feeling enormously emotional.
Nick’s Artwork will be renowned forever.. as the man himself will be!
Lots of laughter and a few tears… I wait in anticipation for Part Two… I know there’s lots more to come!
