Our very own Nick Elliott was in attendance, bringing his unmistakable style and Va va voom to the rock photography world. Nick continues his Rockumentary project with Jon and whilst he made magic on stage, Nick captured the magical heart and soul of this seasoned performer.
Jon revitalised the audience with a selection of tracks from his band ‘Pray for the Buffalo’ and his newly released solo tracks from ‘Love Songs For Losers…‘

Nicks rockumentary series continues over the next 12 months with Jon, and has expanded to involve other mainstream bands and artists which will be announced after finalising negotiations.

Q1. Have you ever stripped off because the person you photographed didn’t feel comfortable being the only one naked? (Cheeky) Emma North Yorkshire.
A1. Yes of course! I always like to put my subjects at ease. I’ve lost my trousers quite a few times on shoots!
Q2. Would you draw the line ethically about taking a shot which was not morally correct, or is it important to capture everything?. Si. Baltimore USA
A2. I think it’s important to capture and record everything that is put before me. There are moments in history caught on film, that are truly shocking but these moments shape the audiences opinions, thoughts, emotions, and awareness. These images build history.
Q3. What is the craziest request that you have had ever said no to during a shoot?. Victoria H. Scotland UK.
A3. I’ve never said no to any request during a shoot. It’s important to accommodate your subjects as much as possible. Although I did turn down Ozzy Osbourne when he asked me to give him my boots!
Q4. How old were you when you lost your virginity, and where? Eva. V Cambridgeshire UK.
A4. I was about 15 years old at the Cambridge Corn Exchange after a Lindsfarne concert. It was a great concert!
Q5. One of the great artists you have had a chance to work with is the one and only Earl Slick… how has your experience been working with him and what have you enjoyed most about it? Cynthia H. Mexico
A5. Earl is a one-of-a-kind individual. A true gentleman and a musical genius. It was an amazing experience to hook up with slick and work with him over the last five years. Slick is an incredibly private person and it was a total challenge to gain his confidence. Slick allowed me to shoot up close and personal and I respected our friendship and the trust that we had developed over the years. We hook up whenever he’s back in the UK, we go on days out together which is always a blast. We appreciate each other’s careers and it’s wonderful to call him of true friend.
Q6. If you were not a rock photographer what vocation would you choose instead?. Claire R. Florida USA
A6. I can’t imagine doing anything else. It runs through me, but if I did have to choose, it would be within the music/creative industry. Probably a radio TV presenter.
Q7. Which photographers have influenced your art? Ernesto S. Italy
A7. There have been many. Anton Corbyn, Terence Donovan, Ansal Adams, Bailey and Maplethorpe just to name a few. I have the greatest respect for all of these artists, their vision and expertise have always influence to me. It has allowed me to develop and explore my own unique style and not be afraid to experiment with light, contrast, content, exposure and subject matter. It’s allowed me to be daring with my art work at a young age and develop as I got older.
Q8. What do you want to say with your images and how do you get them to portray that?. Henry A. Lincoln UK
A8. Each image portrays something different for each individual. I want my heart to be responsible for provoking a range of emotions. I want the audience to find a connection with the images that creates a deeper understanding of themselves. A self awareness that releases their true personality. I would like my art to make people think about what they are viewing.
Q9. What motivates you to continue producing fine art photography? Will B. Norwich UK.
A9. My motivation is driven solely by striving to move the creative line for myself and for the audience. I want to push the boundaries of the photographic art world, for my images to be relevant and thought-provoking even after my death.
Q10. Did you ever climb trees as a boy because Nicholas boys should never climb trees! Delphine Leeds UK
A10. I have had many a fight at school over that comment! I still climb trees and I’m still knickerless, as you would find out if you were in the woods with me!

The Story So Far…

Aturn films, owned by Andy Turner approached Nick some time ago with a proposal that was just too good to pass up. Filming has now commenced on a no holds barred documentary about Nick‘s life, his grass root beginnings and his rise to renowned rock art photographer, taking his place amongst some of the most revered photographers the world has to offer.
“I met Nick some 10 years ago through printed media, we have stayed in touch on and off since then.”

The candid documentary delves within the layers of Nick’s personality and allows viewers a sincere insight into what makes this artistic,tick both behind and in front of the lens.

Nick talks openly about his career as a newspaper photographer, his first studio, how he took the advertising industry by storm, working within the rock art industry, his totally unique and captivating images depicting his beloved Norfolk and his slow descent into a hideously despondent private world, following several personal tragedies that have shaped his future art for good.

A Peachy Proposal…

A hot sunny day and a burger on the beach was a welcome prelude to the two heavyweights of the music and rock photography Industry, discussing an exciting new collaboration that will continue Nick Elliott’s Rockumentary series.
As Nick’s Rockumentary projects with Earl Slick and Ed Graham draw to a close, Nick has found himself in the exciting and unique position to choose select individuals within the music industry to photographically document and continue his series of fine art photographic publications.
Great Yarmouth’s jewel in the crown, Jon Peach Is a singer songwriter who has carved an enviable and well respected career within the music industry. Writing and performing with ‘Pray for the Buffalo’ and ‘Junk Shop Poets, Jon has just completed his phenomenal solo project ‘Love Songs For Losers’, which was born out of his passion for beat poetry and storytelling love songs. The Rockumentary, taking approximately one year to capture, allows Nick to shadow Jon during shows, rehearsals, recordings and leisure time.“

When life gives you lemons, choose a peach…
Lockdown at elliottstudios….

During this extremely challenging time, what has nick been doing at elliottstudios? Well, he’s been busier than ever, preparing the upgrade of elliottstudios and cramming the online shop with never before seen images of all your favourite music legends.
Nick has been post producing hundreds of images for his forthcoming books and final projects. As his project with Ed Graham and the legendary Earl Slick draw to a close, Nick has been shortlisting images and sending them for publication.
Nick has also been meticulously planning the release of the first of several conceptual dark art projects, and is in negotiations with galleries regarding exhibitions interviews and TV appearances across the UK, USA and Europe.

During the last two years Nick has been honing down his culinary expertise and has had a chance during lockdown to become quite a connoisseur of his favourite dishes.
“I make a mean rock ‘n’ roll chilli. It has several secret ingredients, one of which is a bottle of JB! Let’s face it any chilli is fucking Rock n’ Roll after a bottle of JB!”

Nick is also missing his partner, Benice Bond during lockdown.
“Benice is a frontline worker on Intensive Care, so we are individually self isolating to keep everyone safe, and haven’t seen each other during the lockdown. Thank god for face time and phone sex!!,,

Nick has also found time to pick up an old friend…. He’s black Fender guitar…Nick has been knocking out some tunes and waiting for a vacancy with the Hollywood vampires.

Nick has also been in negotiations with TV directors who want to make a one hour rockumentary about his life and his rise to world renowned rock art photographer. Filming starts on this exciting new project next week in various locations around North Norfolk. Look out for him on location!

Dead Reynolds, Dead Good…

Dead Reynolds were one of the new up-and-coming Inspiring acts playing at the Dukes Head Ballroom, Kings Lynn’s Marketplace on Saturday the 22nd February.
Nick could not resist the invitation to pop along to meet up with the guys and peruse the new talent. Callum (Lead Vocals), Ben (Bass Guitar), Dom (Lead Guitar), Luke (Rhythm Guitar), and the band’s drummer Luke, collectively known as Dead Reynolds have been together for just two years, but the chemistry and the talent that Oozes from their performance is indisputable.
The event hosted by Triston Finnis Owner of Twisted Melon Promotions, showcased 10 new musical acts that wowed the audience.
Although this years Kings Lynn festival Too has been unfortunately postponed, next years event will be better than ever. The festival also promoted by Twisted Melon Promotions, will feature a ‘Battle of the Bands’ event and our very own Nick has been invited onto the judging panel. Hopefully Dead Reynolds will find time in their busy schedule to give the crowd a musical treat as they did last year.
