After a hiatus of several months due to lockdown, the filming of Nick’s documentary of his life, career, and childhood continues. ‘The Story So Far’ has now recommenced shooting again during the past few weeks, with the finished film still on schedule for a Summer 2022 release.
The documentary, filmed by award-winning film producer Andy Blithe of Aturn Film productions has restarted filming, in this no holds barred documentary, recounting an honest recollection of Nick’s childhood, marriage, career, family and his once deteriorating mental health.
The documentary also focuses on Nick’s creative inner turmoil and the people that have positively and negatively influenced it. Included in the documentary are interviews from Nick‘s brother and several of his closest friends who have been a part of its life since he was a child.
Once released this documentary is not to be missed, if you would like to know more about our favourite rock photographer. The documentary is also in negotiations for a worldwide release and translated into several languages.

2 GO MAD ON A BOAT…

The ‘2 Go Mad in Norfolk’ series continues filming across the picturesque county of Norfolk with Nick, and award-winning film producer, Andy Blithe Aturn Film productions.
The latest escapade saw the duo let loose on the Norfolk Broads aboard the Love Boat, Penthouse 2, with Andy at the helm.
‘2 Go Mad’ has been filming across the county of Norfolk, sampling local attractions creating tourism and local awareness to the delights this fantastic county has to offer. Several episodes have already been completed, with more dates and venues booked for filming before December. The series is due to air early next year.

SPENCER SPECTACULAR…

Last year Nick was invited by NBA casting agency to star in the Hollywood blockbuster film ‘Spencer’ starring some of Hollywood’s most prestigious heavyweight actors, including one of Nick‘s favourite Timothy Spall (The Last bus), Kristen Stewart (Twilight), Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water) and Jack Farthing (The Lost Daughter).
Filming took place last summer and had to remain a closely guarded secret until the film’s release. Already a resounding success at the Venice film festival, ‘Spencer’ directed by Pablo Larraín is predicted to sweep up at the BAFTAs and Oscars early next year. Larraín is no stranger to the Academy Awards, his 2016 film, ‘Jackie’ was nominated for an Academy Award ,and his ‘A Fantastic Woman’ won an Academy Award For Best Foreign Language Film in 2017.
Nick spent some time with the star of the film, Kirsten Stewart to capture some unique shots of this truly talented and professional actor in full costume.

Iron Maiden Feature Film…

Nick was delighted to be contacted by NBA film agency for a lead role starring in a feature film chronicling the life of heavyweight rock icon Bruce Dickinson, front man of Iron Maiden. Nick got tooled up in costume with a bass guitar to play Iron Maiden‘s bassist Steve Harris in this feature length film directed by Ian Dray.
Dray has previously directed several Harry Potter films and Captain Corellis mandolin starring Nicolas Cage.
Filming took place at RAF Coltishall, where several purpose-built film sets were erected.

Q1. What are your values for your photography and how do you measure and evaluate them?. (N. Rogers. U.K.)
A1. The values of my images are personally measured with integrity, honesty, authenticity and trust, based on my own known values of morality, integrity and ethics. However, my owns values are not subjected onto others, my images portray my own unique opinion within my own boundaries of creativity and art. (Nick Elliott)
Q2. Do you always see photographic opportunities wherever you go? (J. Brewer. London U.K.)
A2. Yes, pretty much. There is photographic opportunities out there wherever you look, but opportunities to create art are sometimes limited. It’s a representation of oneself, and what you see individually that sets us apart, it’s the opportunity to just take a picture of a moment, or create a piece of individual art, and all art is subjective. Q3. I find your recent dark art project is quite intriguing and I’m looking forward to viewing the whole collection. Is this the direction your art is going in now? What about the fear of failure or rejection? (V. Huber. Manchester U.K.)
Q3. Yes it is the direction that my art is going. Creatively this is something that I have to explore which has previously been denied. Unfortunately the fear of failure and rejection is something every artist has to live with because it’s inevitable as art is so personal. If my art gives me satisfaction and evokes an emotion from its audience, wether that be positive or negative, then I feel I have achieved my goal. Art is designed to stir a broad range of emotions from its audience, from repulsion to inspiration. No art can be classed as rubbish, it’s just personal to the viewer wether they find it intriguing and captivating. (Nick Elliott)
Q4. What type of camera do you recommend for an amateur photographer? (J Snow Wales UK)
Q4. What ever one the photographer feels comfortable with. It’s a personal choice. The camera should be an extension of your body, considering balance, weight and even how you carry them. You can create a fantastic photo on one of the most inexpensive cameras, it’s all about your eye, the opportunity and the camera being an extension of you, and how comfortable and capable you are with using it which leads to proficiency. Q5. I’m struggling with my photography. I can’t seem to make the most of natural light and when I use the flash things look washed out. Have you any tips? (D. Rivers. Birmingham UK)
A5. They are probably washed out because they are overexposed. Shooting on manual brings its own problems, capturing natural light is a technique in itself. You need to know and understand how your camera reads natural light, all different makes of cameras read natural light differently. This is what makes film photography much more difficult than digital. Always shoot on manual, understand your cameras capabilities and bracket your shot. Experiment with lots of different natural light situations and practice. This is all part of the creativity and fun of photography. Hope this helps. (Nick Elliott)

John Kerrison, a freelance photojournalist for Norfolk Magazine and Norfolk and Suffolk Magazine publications , caught up with our favourite rock art photographer Nick Elliott, at Brundall Bay Marina for a swashbuckling interview onboard Norfolk’s almost famous Penthouse 2 boat.
John has interviewed Nick several times previously for the Norfolk publications, however there was still much to talk about with all Nick’s new and upcoming projects.

1Q. Out of all the things that you do, what makes you the most excited? (Kirsty Sheffield UK)
1A. Knowing that I have got a great shot, after I’ve taken it. I instinctively know when I’ve captured a face melter.
2Q. On the radio you always seem very jolly. What makes you laugh? (A Donovan London UK)
2A. People with good humour, sarcasm and wit. The kind that just bats back-and-forth with ease.
3Q. Do you remember the very first photo you ever took? (Richard Rushby Whitby UK)
3A. That was a picture at the pleasure beach at Great Yarmouth, and it was of the pirate on the rollercoaster. I think it’s still there.
4Q. I live on the west coast of the USA. Will USA Tour come to California? (B Donaldson USA)
4A. Hopefully it will. There are plans for multiple tours starting off in the south east states of USA. Our plan is to do all the states at some point.
5Q. What do you think to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers? (J Carter UK)
5A. I think they are a fucking good band. Would love the opportunity to work with them .

2 STILL MAD FOR IT

Andy Blithe and Nick have been horsing around in Norfolk with the continued filming of ‘2GOMad in Norfolk.’ The boys have been joined by an additional film crew, freelance cameraman Simon Page and Dylan Knight, to assist with filming.
The ‘2GoMad’ series has kicked off with the pair trying their luck at ghost hunting in the grounds of the historical St Benet’s Abbey on the Norfolk Broads, with the help of paranormal investigator Karl Hardiment.
It’s a closely guarded secret if the ghost hunters actually made contact with the ghostly monk that is said to roam the Abbey, you will have to watch out for the episode to know for sure. One thing is for certain, if you have a ghost in your cottage or see an apparition on your wooden stairs, or get lost in the Bermuda Triangle, call the real Ghostbusters!
Most recently Andy and Nick joined the Knight’s Tower Medieval Combat Group to test their sword fighting skills with this medieval re-enactment company, under the supervision of founder member Lee Warden. The boys usual wiry sense of humour added to the shenanigans which was all caught on camera. Filming continues and the series promises to be a sure hit, if the first edits are anything to go by.

ROCK AND ROLL RADIO

Nick was recently invited to be a special guest on the ‘Saturday Night Rock Show’ hosted by the talented Stuart Pink, the recording of the interview takes place next week, and the interview will be broadcast via Londons Phoenix FM Radio on Saturday, the 17th of April 2021.
Nick is excited to chat with Stuart about his career in the rock photography industry, his upcoming and much anticipated UK to USA tour, and his Dark Art that has shaped his life and photography born from his personal experiences of a noxious relationship and loss. Also up for discussion is Nick’s Rockumentary series with the love song loser Jon Peach, and the band taking the music industry by storm, Dead Reynolds.

2 ON THE RADIO

Andy Blithe and Nick will be special guests on BBC Radio Norfolk next week, discussing their new TV series ‘2 Go Mad In Norfolk’, with Kirstene Thorne at 08:20 on 10/04/2021
The delightful duo will be talking about the exclusive concept of ‘2 Go Mad’ and how it has evolved into it’s mischievously entertaining design. Andy and Nick will give a sneak preview into the shows content, and how their 10 year friendship has been a stable foundation to the dynamics of the show. The BBC TV have also shown an interest in broadcasting a feature with the couple.
Meanwhile filming for ‘2 Go Mad’ restarts this month in various locations around Norfolk. The boys will be travelling around the county sampling local tourist attractions and Norfolk novelties , with their impish shenanigans adding hilarity to the events. Keep a look out for Penthouse 1 and the boys on their travels.
“Little bit of a diversion for me this project, being one that’s going to be a regularly broadcasted show. Very much looking forward to it and to having a lot of laughs and a lot of giggles, can’t wait. Andy and I have been close friends for the past 10 years, and to do a project like this, I think, the only way that it can really work is if we have a real serious bond between ourselves, and a really good vibe. COMING TO AMERICA

Nick’s UK to USA tour is gathering momentum as more tour dates, venues and public appearances are added to this much anticipated event.
elliottstudios continue to be busy preparing the tour merchandise and working closely with Brenda Cline, Nick’s USA management, in securing promotional dates across several US states.
The UK to USA Tour will be kicking off in October 2021, dates and venues have already been provisionally booked in Texas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Nick will be promoting the event via TV, radio, print, and interviews all taking place stateside prior to the tour commencing.
Negotiations are still in progress for appearances at The Leon Russell Studio in Tulsa, The Woody Guthrie Centre (in conjunction with a Nick Elliott exhibition at this illustrious rock photographers Museum), and several casinos would like to add Nick to their after dinner shows.
Andy Blithe will accompany Nick to continue ‘The Story So Far’ documentary, charting Nick’s unique career and enviable talent behind the lens.

1. What advice would you give to your 16-year-old self? (Matt Landes UK)
1. Hi Matt it would always be to follow your instincts, to be yourself and never change your focus and also never forget where your roots are.
2. What’s the best event you have ever been to? (Chris Staton UK)
2. Hi Chris that would be the classic rock awards in 2015. It was a great night, in the presence of music legends. I remember I got mobbed going in for my autograph.
3. What has been the most memorable thing you have seen in the rock business? (M Paige. S Carolina USA)
3. Jack Bruce, the bass player for Cream, sitting all alone in the middle of a field at a Van Morrison show. A second close was having a cup of tea with Robert Plant.
4. In your opinion what is the best photo that’s ever been taken? (Jesse G Tulsa USA)
4. I couldn’t possibly answer that Jesse. There have been some fantastic shots in history. But any image that evokes a profound reaction from its audience becomes memorable to each individual.
5. I am 17 years old and enjoy photography as a hobby. I really like your photos and you have inspired me to try live performance photography. How do you feel when people say that you have inspired them? (Lily Gordon Oxford UK)
5. It’s wonderful. A fantastic feeling to know my art is ultimately appreciated. We are all inspired by people we admire. It’s totally wonderful to know that your work has inspired somebody else’s career and their art, just as my peers inspired me, it’s fabulous to know that I’ve made a mark.
